Chrome OS Notebooks to have some nice perks!

Coming from today's giant Chrome Event, every Chrome OS installed notebook will ship with a cellular modem. In addition, they will also receive some free data access as well!

Verizon is jumping into the game and offering 100 mb of free data access per month for two years. And if you want to go beyond that they are offering $9.99 "day passes" if you do not want to opt-into a contract with Verizon or you can purchase your data in "chunks".

This may be the answer for some who want net access on the go. But considering all the other options that are out there today, this deal is a bit on the expensive side once you get passed the "free" two year deal. However, knowing Verizon and their ability to stay competitive, I think they will eventually see the light and formulate a package that makes sense for people who purchase a Chrome based notebook. Hell, Chrome has not even made its appearance yet and their launch has been again delayed. This time until mid-2011 from what we are hearing. So for the time being, unless you are a Google fan-boy you may not be wanting to wait for their notebooks to hit and will buy something else with an already established OS and method of mobile networking. Like say a HP or Dell laptop running Windows 7 with a tethered Blackberry or Verizon 4g modem.
